Established in 1998 as a sister museum to the Toy Museum in Seiffen, Germany, the Karuizawa Erz Toy Museum celebrates the rich tradition of German craftsmanship. Our exhibits showcase traditional wooden toys from the Erzgebirge region, reflecting a shared spirit of artistry that resonates with Japanese folk culture.
Explore our seasonal exhibitions, held in spring/summer and autumn/winter, featuring iconic pieces like smoking man dolls, Christmas pyramids, and nutcrackers.

Open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free for children under elementary school age, with discounts for groups and visitors with disabilities.
Note: The museum is closed from January 9 to February 28 for winter maintenance.
